About the event

How is NYC rethinking transportation, construction, workforce training, and our waterfront spaces to achieve its climate goals and build a green economy? New York City's Green Economy Action Plan is a first-of-its-kind roadmap to growing the city's green economy and meeting its ambitious goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. To expand NYC's green economy, the city is committed to investments that will reshape the way we build, move goods, generate power, and train workers. Some of these projects are already underway—and this sunset boat tour of the New York Harbor will provide an insider's look at current progress and what's next. Participants will view the New York Climate Exchange under construction on Governors Island, learn about industrial building decarbonization techniques being piloted at Brooklyn Navy Yard, and hear how the Climate Innovation Hub at Brooklyn Army Terminal will provide piloting and prototyping space for the next generation of climate technologists and entrepreneurs. Andrew Kimball, President and CEO of NYC Economic Development Corporation, Clare Newman, President and CEO of the Trust for Governors Island, Matthew Harrison, Senior Vice President of Development at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, and Alice Shay, Principal and leader of BuroHappold's Cities team, will provide expert commentary on the initiatives that will fulfill our city's climate goals.
