Students Strike Across the Globe: Images

Updated: Jun 1, 2020

On Friday, March 15, I walked out of school at 1PM, Eastern Standard Time. Along with many of my classmates and hundreds students across New York City, I went to Columbus Circle to demand government action on climate change. At 2:45, we marched up Central Park West and protested on the steps of the American Museum of Natural History.

Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg was recently nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for her activism on climate change. Last year, she launched a campaign, "school strike for climate change." Now she is 16 years old and her movement has set off strikes all around the world. On Friday students globally decided to strike school to protect government inaction on climate change. Thousands of students participated. Here are the best photos compiled from Flickr and the New York Times.
